Marketplace QA before upload
Review at least one representative product from each shape group: tall bottle, flat box, square package and accessory. A setting that works for one group can make another look too small or too close to the edge.
Check file names and output order before upload. A visually correct batch can still fail operationally if SKU images are renamed ambiguously.
1
Compare product scale across the batch.
2
Check white or transparent background requirements separately.
3
Keep original masters outside the delivery folder.
Build one rule per selling context
A marketplace resize rule should match a real upload context, not a generic square. A fashion item, a boxed product and a spare part need different margins even when the final canvas is identical. Define the target as product type plus destination, then keep a small evidence set: before file, exported file, chosen preset and any marketplace rule that influenced the decision.
1
Do not mix product shapes that need different margins.
2
Keep SKU mapping visible in output names.
3
Use sourced rule profiles when a marketplace has explicit requirements.
Separate platform rules from house style
Marketplace resizing works best when required constraints and your own brand choices are kept separate. The required layer is the file type, minimum dimension, background rule and image count that the marketplace documents. The house-style layer is shadow strength, product scale, naming and whether secondary images use the same crop rhythm. Keeping those layers separate makes updates safer when a platform changes its rules.
1
Record which rule came from the marketplace and which came from your catalog style.
2
Use one export naming pattern across the batch.
3
Recheck only the rule layer when a marketplace profile changes.
